Default Character models that evolve slightly with level.

Perhaps it's too much work to impliment - but this is a suggestion forum after all.

As a character advances experience levels (or at specific levels) the model might evolve subtley (e.g. warriors get slightly more muscular, monks get slightly bolder posture etc.). Experienced and battle-worn player characters would appear somewhat more majestic - it'd be a nice perk. Level 1 players might have slightly more slope to their shoulders.

Similarly, completing a very difficult quest or region (e.g. all of Fissure of Woe) can grant a character some mark of distinction on their armor or a tattoo somewhere.

In a game where people are willing to pay 60k (Marhan's or Granite Citadel) or 600k (Fissure of Woe) for unique armor that's, in practical terms, identical to 1.5k Droknar's Armor - unique visual "badges" could serve as a strong incentive to aspire to difficult achievements.

Unfortunately, this would encourage grinding to get cooler looking, and people would brag about how 1337 they look.

thats a good idea. even giving us the option of "appearance" points to customize ourselves as we evolve through the game. its purely aesthetics although everyone can make themselves stand out from one another.

Xue thats a really cool concept.
I don't believe the GW engine has the graphics potential to handle that however.
EQ2 has a state of the art, "our technology is beyond your mortal comprehension" rendering engine and I'll be the first to say I was vastly underwhelmed.

Methinks this an idea that will see light in the next couple of years to come however!

Wasn't there a game not long ago where your character's appearance changed over time based on whether they were doing good deeds or bad? Some console game?

SW:KotOR (1 and 2, same engine) and Fable.

KotOR is simply a head texture change, Fable is more complicated since characters did grown body muscles but Fable only had a character choise.

This is a great idea, maybe add battle scars as times go on for wars. Not sure how you would handle Ele or Necro. This would be an great addtion, the higher lvl you get the more you've grown. I would add maybe a special glow to ascended chracters to donate the ascenion similiar but diffrent from the collector's edition glow on the characters.

There would be no grinding since it apply to your normal leveling up.

Yeah - I thought of battle-scars, too. I think that would be terrific.

Hmm... Sounds nice. And in case there would be UBER 1337 talk going about, why not make an "appearance" cap at 20? The changes would stop when you reached your fullest potential.

As long as the changes aren't too big. I don't want my ranger walking around looking like a Hulk or something. For warriors maybe thats ok, but the problem is some classes might have sterotypical appearences some people won't agree with. If they could find a way around this, I would love it.

More brainstorming here:
Here's another idea along the same lines - armor/clothing and equipment that show visual wear with use. It won't affect the stats but some people may prefer to look battle-worn and weathered when they emerge from the desert after fighting off giant wurms. Maybe they'd prefer to maintain that look throughout the game.

For 5gp they can get themselves cleaned up in any town and their armor/weapons polished to look new.

For 50gp in a major city they can have their equipment cleaned and polished to sparkle! Of course it won't last forever, but a player might want to ceremoniously look their best for GvG battle, for instance.
It's also a way for rich players to flash their wealth if they so choose - In that sense it's not unlike people paying to dye their armor all black - except that a sparkle has to be maintained.

What are you trying to say with this post. Someone's already said it is in other games. At least commment about it so it actually adds to the discussion.

I was just thinking about this the other day, but instead base it on your attribute points. If I have 16 points in Fire Magic, then I'm going to have a lot more "fireness" than the dude that only has 13 points in it. Since I'm a Fire/Blood/Soul-Reaping Necro/Ele, I'd have maybe a bloody scarred body from all my sacrificing skills and maybe a flame aura surrounding me...for some reason I think DBZ here and going Super Saiyan...maybe then my hands would grow little mouths on them to resemble the soul reaping.

I'm not sure, but this sounded a lot cooler when I was thinking it and not typing it...

Oh, and I didn't think of how this would change anyone else but my character, so go think for yourselves!

But yeah...I really didn't think much about this except for Necros and Eles...

That'd be awesome, I want to look really wicked with loads of battle marks and all sorts of stuff like that 'eh?

Just a shame I doubt it'll ever happen, don't think they'd be able to do it really.
